Assistant Coach
I'm Coach Lauren, a first-time soccer coach coming in with several years on the sidelines as a dedicated soccer mom. I'm excited to encourage our girls as they develop skills in the game and grow in their teamwork and sportsmanship. Hopefully we have lots of fun along the way!

A weekly note about what the team is learning, celebrating, and looking forward to next.
Week 1
I just wanted to thank everyone for such a fantastic first week of soccer! We got off to a little bit of a bumpy start with our first practice and game cancelled, but the girls showed up this week with ENTHUSIASM! I absolutely love all of the personalities on this team. It's so fun to get to watch these girls play and support each other. I've still got a lot to learn as coach, and I'm ALWAYS open to criticism, so if you have suggestions for me, I'm MORE than happy to hear them!
A special thank you this week to Rachel (Gwen's mom) for helping out as an assistant coach at our first 2 games. You're a lifesaver! Also a huge thank you to Brittney for organizing the snack effort!
Looking forward to practice on Tuesday. I've got to do some more research to see what we can do to work on our soccer skills, but these girls have been SO IMPRESSIVE already!
Week 1 Practice Plan
Our first practice is about names, confidence, ball control, and lots of small-sided play.
Players ease in with casual 1v1 or 2v2 games using several small cone goals. The goal is to get everyone moving, smiling, and connecting with teammates.
Coaches introduce themselves, then each player shares a favorite animal, food, or color. We will finish by learning our three team rules together.
Green means dribble; yellow means tiny, slow touches; red means stop with the sole. U-turn changes direction, and race car means faster dribbling under control.
Two sharks begin in the middle while the minnows start on one side with a ball. Minnows cross while protecting it; sharks try to knock balls out of bounds.
A quick break for water before we finish with small-sided play.
Each field starts with one attacker and one defender. Rounds end at a goal or when the ball goes out. We rotate quickly, then finish with a few minutes of 3v3 if time allows.
